Over-the-Rhine rowhouse: brick cleaned, repointed, limestone hoods restored
Masonry work in Over-the-Rhine
Over-the-Rhine is one of the largest intact historic districts in the country, and the masonry is most of what you see: pressed-brick facades, heavy cornices, cast iron tied into brick, and common-bond party walls that are coming apart. We’ve repointed, rebuilt, and restored on blocks across OTR for developers, preservationists, and homeowners.

About OVER-THE-RHINE CINCINNATI Masonry Work
Over-the-Rhine has one of the largest collections of Italianate architecture in the United States, and all of it is brick. Masonry work in OTR is historic work: hard-fired brick laid in lime mortar, decorative cornices, arched window heads, and stoops that predate the modern building code. We tuckpoint with a breathable lime mortar matched to the original color and joint profile, rebuild cornices that have lost their anchorage, replace spalled brick with salvaged or color-matched units, and restore stoops and sandstone lintels. We work with developers converting OTR buildings and with owners who want to keep an old building sound without stripping the character out of it.
