Siding Contractor in Cincinnati

Vinyl, fiber cement and wood siding, repaired or replaced, with the flashing behind it done right.

Siding fails from the back

A waving vinyl panel or a stained clapboard usually means water is getting behind it at a window, roof edge or corner.

We find where the water gets in and fix the wall behind it first. The owner looks at every job before he prices it.

What we fix

Spot repairs

Damaged boards or panels out, new ones in at the same profile and reveal.

Discontinued vinyl

Panels from a hidden wall move to the front, and new ones go where nobody looks.

Rotted wood

Soft sheathing, corner boards and trim cut out, and new wood primed on all six sides.

Full re-siding

Tear-off, sheathing check, house wrap lapped like shingles, then new siding and trim.

Flashing

Pan flashing under every window and a kick-out wherever a lower roof ends against a wall.

Siding meets masonry

Where siding meets a chimney, brick or stucco, we flash the joint instead of caulking it.

Old houses, old rules

Pull vinyl off a hundred-year-old house and you may find asbestos-cement shingles over the original clapboard. We have suspect shingles tested before anyone disturbs them, and pre-1978 paint gets lead-safe work under the EPA’s RRP rule.

Covington’s historic overlay and Cincinnati’s local historic districts require a certificate of appropriateness for exterior changes. We check your address first.

We never cover brick with siding. If the brick is the problem, brick repair is the fix.

“Replaced a crumbling porch and repaired the foundation brick. Honest pricing and they explained every step. Would hire again without hesitation.”

“We inherited a historic home with a failing stone foundation. Swiss Masonry worked with our structural engineer and the city’s historic preservation office without us having to babysit a single conversation. They know how to work with old buildings. Highly recommend.”

Siding questions

Do you repair siding or only replace it?

Both. Swiss Masonry repairs a few bad boards or one wet corner without re-siding the house, and replaces siding only when a whole wall has failed.

Is fiber cement better than vinyl in Cincinnati weather?

Neither suits every house. Fiber cement resists dents and won’t melt but needs paint. Vinyl needs no paint and costs less, but it can crack when struck in cold weather.

What is kick-out flashing, and do I need it?

Kick-out flashing is a bent piece of metal where a roof edge meets a sidewall, steering water into the gutter instead of behind the siding. Ohio’s residential code requires it.
