New broom-finished concrete driveway and curved front walk at a brick ranch house near Cincinnati

Concrete Contractors in Cincinnati

Driveways, patios, steps and garage slabs on a compacted stone base that stays flat through Cincinnati winters.

We start below the surface

A sunken apron or a patio tipping toward the house means the base gave out. A walk flaking apart after one winter means the mix couldn’t take salt and freeze-thaw.

We find out why your old slab failed before anyone talks about pouring, and we only tear out what a repair can’t save.

What we pour and repair

Concrete finisher brooming a fresh driveway slab beside a tooled control joint and wood forms

Driveways

Tear-out, a new stone base and a fresh pour, thickened at the apron where trucks turn.

Patios and walkways

Pitched away from the house, so rain runs off into the yard.

Front steps

Steps that pulled away from the house come out, and we fix the cause before pouring new.

Garage floors

A new slab pitched to the door, with the wall footings checked while the floor is out.

Cracks and overlays

Sound slabs with cracks or scaling get a bonded repair or overlay, not a tear-out.

Chimney crowns

Reinforced crowns with an overhang, a drip groove and a bond break at the flue.

Poured for freeze-thaw

A firm base

We dig to firm soil and compact crushed stone in layers.

Air-entrained mix

Tiny air bubbles give freezing water room to expand.

Control joints

At least a quarter of the slab deep, so it cracks along the joint.

A slow cure

Kept damp while it cures. Never poured on frozen ground.

Concrete questions we hear

Do I need a permit to replace a driveway in Cincinnati?

Inside Cincinnati city limits, rebuilding the apron or the strip crossing the public sidewalk needs a Department of Transportation and Engineering permit first, and that section must be at least 7 inches thick. Suburbs and Kentucky cities set their own rules, and we check yours before pricing.

Can you fix a sunken patio without tearing it out?

Sometimes. If the slab is in one piece and the ground has stopped moving, a structural overlay can raise the low edge so water drains away from the house. If it's broken or still settling, replacement is the fix that lasts.

Is rock salt bad for new concrete?

Yes. Salt keeps the surface wet through more freeze-thaw cycles, which makes concrete flake, so skip it the first year and use clean sand.
