New three-story brick and limestone school building with concrete plaza and young trees, Greater Cincinnati

Government and Institutional Masonry in Cincinnati

New masonry and historic restoration for public buildings, bid from plans and specs and built to them.

Masonry for buildings the public uses every day

Swiss Masonry has laid and restored brick and stone in Greater Cincinnati since 1993. On public work we answer to the owner and the architect, or we carry the masonry package for the general contractor.

Most of these buildings stay open while we work. We plan the job around the people inside it.

What we do

New public buildings

Full-bed brick, split-face and ground-face CMU, and cast-stone trim laid true to the drawings.

Historic civic restoration

Indiana limestone and old brick cleaned gently and repointed with mortar matched to the original.

Schools and libraries

Additions toothed into existing brick, and envelope repairs where water gets past failed flashing and blocked weeps.

Repairs on occupied buildings

Repointing, lintel replacement and parapet rebuilds done in phases while staff and students keep using the building.

Site masonry

Retaining walls, steps and plazas on public grounds, detailed for snowplows and de-icing salt.

Packages for general contractors

The full masonry scope priced from the bid set, from CMU backup to cast-stone sills and copings.

How we work on public jobs

  1. We bid from your plans and specs, and send questions through the architect before bid day.
  2. Submittals and product data go in before production. When the spec calls for a mockup panel, we build it and get approval before laying up the building.
  3. Certificates of insurance, and bonds where the contract requires them, are in order before we mobilize.
  4. We schedule around the occupied building and the school calendar, fence the work area and keep OSHA-trained crews on site.
  5. The site is cleaned at the end of every day, and we walk the finished work with the owner before closeout.
